What I want for you is the same thing that I want for myself and for my children… and that is that you go out in the world and make happiness and contentment and joy in your lives. Now please note the verb. I didn’t say find happiness. There is not happiness lying on the side of the road. It’s not on a sale rack in Bloomingdale’s, although we all wish it would be. Happiness is not something that gets given to you or made for you. There is no job, no person, no pile of gold, no shoes or handbag that can make you happy. Happiness is something that you need to claim and nurture and defend for yourself.
